American Pastime tells the story of Japanese Americans interned during World War II. Billy Burrell, a camp guard, meets Lyle Nomura, a Japanese-American star college pitcher who strikes up a romance with the guard's daughter, Katie. The romance leads to tension between the two families, causing Lyle's father to propse a baseball game between Burrell's team and the internees, diving into an intergral part of Japanese-American culture.
